Writer’s Ink Mission Statement
Writer’s Ink, established in January of 2004, grew out of a core of PPC employees whose outside passion was fiction. As a group, we wanted to improve our writing skills and sell our work. We’ve met regularly since early 2005 (the second incarnation of the group), growing and adapting to meet the needs of our ever-changing membership.
Our main goals are to help each other get published, learn more about the craft of writing, and do both with a group of trusted friends. We read and critique each other’s work, encourage each other to submit finished works, and share our knowledge about the craft and business of writing.
We are open to members of all experience levels, ages, and interests. We have members with experience in novel-writing, short-fiction, flash-fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. We are a general-interest writing group and will help writers of all genres, including mainstream, fantasy, science fiction, lesbian fiction, action/adventure, mystery, speculative fiction, young adult fiction, and more. You must be willing to read and give feedback in all genres.
While we have a great deal of fun at our meetings, we are not geared toward socializing. We are a working writers’ group, and our main premise is that writers write. If you join, be prepared to share what you are working on, to take criticism, and also to give it. We’ll help you make your writing the best it can be—your goal is one we share.
